Live in a district for too long, and you start overlooking things, while complaining about the stuff you already know. I’m saying this because I’m slightly ashamed that since coming back to Zurich Kreis 5 last year, I didn’t manage to discover the wee gem that is Café Noir. Basically a shop selling all kinds of roasted coffee beans and other delicacies, Café Noir also serves brewed coffee and cakes (sumptuous brownies among them) in its tiny but carefully decorated showroom and in a kind of micro-patio right outside on the pavement, too. Be it for the coffee, which is one of the best you can get in this area, the abundant Newspapers or the views of the strangely painted houses across the street: Sitting in Café Noir, you might well feel like in a similar venue in Berlin or East London.
